Yoga as recovery is probably a swimmer's favorite benefit. There is nothing like getting your body back in order after a hard practice. In fact, in order to continue to train well, a swimmer must have time to recover.  This recovery often involves reducing intensity, attending to nutritional considerations, incorporating body massage or other physically therapeutic methods, as well as getting enough rest.

Yoga can be a powerful addition to swimmer recovery because it involves "restorative" postures in every practice. Those restorative postures, however, should address the specific needs of swimmers. Having a swim-specific yoga practice can help to regularly unravel the typical swimmer training tightness from the pool.

Yoga also incorporates relaxation training and is proven to assist practitioners in getting adequate sleep.
